räumliche konfigurationen des messehandels im frühneuzeitlichen europa. gedruckte messekalender des 16. und 17. jahrhunderts und ihre computergestützte analyse

Early modern printed fair calendars provide information about location, the date and duration of trade fairs. They appeared in various literary genres and thus reached a larger audience beyond merchants. We present a data set compiled from seven such calendars, containing a total of 1.080 entries for 728 fairs from all across Europe. These data give insight into the spatiotemporal structure of the early modern fair network. The data set is provided in two Microsoft Excel files and contains information on the location (place name in modern and contemporary spelling, geographical coordinates), date (converted to a modern date format) and, if specified, duration of a fair, as well as the full source text of the calendar entries. The structure of the Excel files is explained in a readme file.
